Travel from your local joining point to the port for your Channel crossing. Continue to your hotel in the Lille area for a four-night stay.

Your tour starts in Flanders around the Belgian city of Ypres. Here, one in three of Britain's Western Front dead fell by 1918 and it has been a place of pilgrimage ever since. Begin in the preserved trenches at Sanctuary Wood Trench Museum. Look at the battlefield around Hill 60, one of the most fought over corners of the Ypres area, and examine the war underground seeing craters that still scar the hill today. After lunch at Hooge Crater Café and Museum look at the commemoration of Britain's dead at Tyne Cot Cemetery, the largest British war cemetery in the world. At Vancouver Corner examine the use of gas in the trenches and see the moving 'Brooding Soldier' memorial to the Canadians. At Langemarck German Cemetery see how Germany commemorated her dead and look at the story of 'Fritz' on the other side of No Man's Land. Your day ends in Ypres where you attend the moving Last Post Ceremony at the Menin Gate Memorial, held at 8pm each evening.

At Nimy Bridge look at the first Victoria Crosses awarded to British troops and at Audregnies examine the largest use of cavalry; when two regiments of war horses charged the Germans in August 1914. Then travel to Englefontaine which was captured by the 18th and 33rd Divisions on the 26th October, 1918. It was later "adopted" by the Borough of Cheltenham.

The triumph of the longbow! Drive to the Field of Agincourt and visit the informative Visitor Centre.

Leave your hotel after breakfast and travel to the port for your return Channel crossing and journey home.
