We arrive into the town of Dürnstein this morning. Dürnstein nestles among Austria’s most famous vineyards and is crowned by the ruins of the castle that once imprisoned Richard the Lionheart. It’s a beautiful place filled with cobbled streets, pretty courtyards and 16th century houses. You can relax onboard for the remainder of the day as we cruise to Vienna for an overnight stop.

Dürnstein

We spend a full day experiencing the delights of Vienna. Grand palaces, Baroque castles, magnificent squares and striking monuments are just some of the key features of this beautiful city, which is a world heritage site. In the morning you can join our optional city tour followed by lunch onboard. This afternoon you can take advantage of our optional excursion to Schonbrunn Palace, which takes you on a journey through time as we explore some of the 1,441 rooms. In the early evening we cast off and cruise towards Budapest.

We arrive in Budapest and we will meet our guide for an included sightseeing tour of the city, by coach and on foot. Spend the rest of the day enjoying the delights of the city. We return to the ship for a relaxing dinner onboard and then there’s the chance to join our optional excursion to experience Budapest by night with a traditional folklore show.

Enjoy a morning in Budapest or join our optional excursion which takes you through the sweeping plains of Hungary to Lajosmizse. Here we visit a traditional stud farm and enjoy a tour of the grounds in a horse drawn carriage, before watching a spectacular live Puszta horse show. We will set sail in the afternoon and cruise towards Bratislava.

We reach Bratislava this morning where there’s the opportunity to join our optional excursion taking in this historic capital city, which is dominated by its castle and unique suspension bridge. We’ll enjoy a walking tour with a local guide and sample ‘Makovka’ which is a sweet white chocolate with poppy seed filling. Lunch is served onboard, and the afternoon is free to explore Bratislava at your leisure before we enjoy dinner onboard and cruise towards Melk.

This morning we arrive in the small town of Melk, which lies in the beautiful Wachau valley. Here you can join our optional excursion visiting the Benedictine Abbey. This is one of the most famous monastic houses in Austria and has been occupied by monks for over 900 years. After some free time, we set sail for the final time and cruise towards Passau. Tonight, enjoy the Captain’s Farewell Dinner on board.

This beautiful city is surrounded by stunning mountain scenery and steeped in history. There will be free time for you to discover the old quarter with its charming arcaded streets, the famous Golden Roof, stroll along the Maria Theresien Strasse with its bustling shops or climb the Tower of the City for magnificent views of the city.

Enjoy an early morning arrival in the picturesque town of Melk, where you can visit the impressive abbey. Around lunchtime we sail eastwards past Durnstein and Krems. We arrive in Vienna later this evening.

I called customer service on the Monday morning after we got home and was assured as no-one was available to speak to me I would get a phone call as soon as someone was available,that was a week ago and still no one has called me back ,,I filled out a survey whilst on holiday so my complaints should be on record,,it would be common courtesy to have a reply from you but after waiting a week I don't think that is going to happen,,,I will seriously consider booking with you again

This trip has the potential to be so much better especially for those with mobility problems Some of the excursions we’re long with far too lengthy breaks in mainly services areas The drivers were exceptional as was our local guide in Hungary the evening excursion was not explained by the cruise staff and what should have been a wonderful evening was cut short because we had dinner on the ship which we feel was not needed The two cruise staff members were dreadful condescending explanations of events not at all helpful to some guests The ship and crew we’re great food excellent and we were very happy with our hotels The trip from Austria to home was so long and only made bearable by the drivers perhaps an additional stop somewhere in time for dinner and relaxation would be beneficial This trip is expensive and whilst we visited some lovely places this is not a holiday we would want to repeat
