Our day’s exploration of rural Nottinghamshire begins in Southwell. Enjoy some free time here, perhaps visiting Southwell Minster, a stunning Romanesque building that’s described as a ‘hidden gem’ of English cathedrals.

Our journey continues northwards towards Edwinstowe in Robin Hood Country, where we spend time at the Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre, enjoying afternoon tea.

Southwell Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre

Relax and unwind at charming Eastwood Hall, maybe taking a dip in the swimming pool or a stroll through the grounds. Or, join our optional excursion to thriving Nottingham with its many cultural attractions.

This evening, we have booked Eastwood Hall’s ornate McGregor Suite, set in the mansion itself, with the colourful entertainment of tales of historic Nottinghamshire.

Today we head into the Peak District and to the picturesque spa town of Matlock Bath, set in the beautiful gorge of the River Derwent with wooded hillsides and rocky limestone crags.

We then pay a nostalgic visit to Crich Tramway Village, home of The National Tramway Museum. Ride the vintage trams, admire period streets then trundle out into rolling countryside. Afterwards, maybe enjoy a pint at the preserved Red Lion Pub or a warming cuppa in the vintage tea rooms.
