Regional departure by coach, then to Holyhead for the ferry to Ireland. We then head to our overnight hotel in Bray.
Today, we head to the beautiful city of Cork. Like Venice, Cork is built on the water, with the city centre blossoming from an island on the River Lee. You will find a myriad of bridges and quays, adding to the romance and personality of this picturesque city.
Our next stop is Blarney Castle, which incorporates the famous 'Blarney Stone' (entrance extra – approximately €15 per person). Tradition has it that kissing the stone will bestow upon the kisser the art of flattery and successful lying!
We continue to our hotel in Rosscarbery where we stay for the next three nights. On arrival we enjoy a welcome Irish cream liqueur and brownie.
This morning we travel to Killarney – gateway to the Ring of Kerry. This popular resort boasts a host of shops, pubs and restaurants, and is a favoured haunt of holidaymakers. You will have time at leisure to absorb the town’s cheerful atmosphere and the infectious Kerry humour of the local families.
This afternoon, we return to the hotel with time to relax. The evening celebrations begin with a special New Year’s Eve dinner followed by music and dancing until midnight, when we will raise a glass of prosecco to toast the coming New Year and enjoy a finger buffet.
Happy New Year! Enjoy a leisurely morning and brunch before joining our optional excursion to the Beara Peninsula. Its stunning views of Caha Mountains and Bantry Bay are just some of the breathtaking sights that await as we tour this bygone haunt of smugglers.
