About the Tour

Stunning mountain scenery, fascinating towns and tales of ancient Irish giants await on this great-value holiday to Ireland. Beginning in County Down we see the Mountains of Mourne sweep into the sea and visit the town of Downpatrick. A holiday highlight is the Giant’s Causeway with its hexagon shaped basalt columns, said to have been made by giants, before heading to the fascinating walled town of Derry. To end the tour on a high, we visit the capital and see the sights of Dublin, including the Trinity College, St. Patrick's Cathedral or maybe try a taste of the 'Black Stuff'.

    This morning we begin with a visit to the town of Newcastle, where the Mountains of Mourne famously sweep down to the sea. After free time to explore we continue to the town of Downpatrick, where in the grounds of Down Cathedral lies a grave reputed to be that of St. Patrick, and you can retrace his life and history in the highly recommended St. Patrick Centre (entrance extra).

    Today we visit the vibrant city of Belfast on our optional excursion, where you will have time at leisure to explore this bustling city perhaps visiting the Titanic Belfast Exhibition (entrance at extra cost). During your visit, an optional sightseeing tour will be available to introduce you to the city. Our sightseeing tour takes in the Falls and Shankill Road, and political wall paintings. We also see the cathedral quarter, one of Belfast’s oldest areas, before returning to the city centre, passing Stormont and the CS Lewis memorial. In the city centre we will see the Tudor Gothic Queens University, The Opera House (a sister to the London Palladium), the magnificent Edwardian City Hall, Belfast’s leaning tower, the Albert Clock and, of course, Lanyon's classical revival Customs House where the writer Anthony Trollope once worked.

    A day of fantastic scenery on our included excursion as we head to the world-famous Giant’s Causeway (entrance at additional cost), with its basalt columns and tales of ancient Irish giants. Our day continues with a visit to the fascinating walled town of Derry (Londonderry). During your visit, an optional sightseeing tour by coach will give you an overview of the city, including a stop at Iskaheen viewing point for a panoramic photograph opportunity. We then drive along the River Foyle to view the city’s iconic peace bridge, the Georgian Quarter and the famous 17th century walls.

    We leave our hotel and travel to Dublin where you have some free time. On arrival, our optional panoramic sightseeing tour, taking in both the north and south part of the capital, will give you a taste of this fascinating city. The tour will show you the inner city of Dublin, seeing beautiful buildings of significance like Trinity College, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, the National Art Gallery and the Four Courts. which if left on your own would take a week! Dublin is a beautiful Georgian city and highlights will be the magnificence of Georgian Dublin with visits to some of the superb squares. Dublin is also home to the Guinness Storehouse should you wish to pay homage to Dublin’s most famous drink and enjoy a panorama of Dublin from its glassed Gravity Bar.

    2017 departures will stay for four nights at the 3-star Superior Four Seasons Hotel in Monaghan. 

    21 May 2017 departure will stay at the  3-star Carrickdale Hotel, near Dundalk. 

    2018 departures will stay at the 4-star Ballymascanlon Hotel, near Dundalk.


    Overnight accommodation in the Dublin area will be in a 3-star city-style hotel.

    We are unable to guarantee that the hotel will be able to meet your dietary requirements. We find that the majority of European countries do not generally cater for vegetarians and that the meal supplied may well be what everyone else is having minus the meat.

    We will of course endeavour to arrange for a vegetarian meal at the hotel. We do however suggest that you advise us of your dietary requests at the time of booking and recommend that you speak to the receptionist on arrival with regard to your request.

    Travel Information

    Departure times given for each region are approximate. Please check your travel documents to confirm the actual timings.

    Front row seats can be reserved for £14pp (up to 6 days duration), £22pp (7 & 8 days duration) and £25pp (9 days duration and over) on all European tours. In addition to this seats on the second row can be reserved for £7pp (up to 6 days duration), £14pp (7 & 8 days duration) and £15pp (9 days duration and over). This offer is only available for bookings of two or four persons on the front row and is subject to availability. Guaranteed front/second row seats cannot be reserved on transfer journeys to/from the U.K. interchange. Children under 15 years cannot occupy a front row seat due to French Law.

    Please note: On some coaches the legroom on front seats may be slightly less than that available on other seats due to the presence of a modesty board in front.

    If your tour is cancelled for any reason and front/second row seats are not available on your new tour you will be refunded the supplement. No other compensation will be payable.

    Alternatively, we can take seating requests on your booking. However, requests are not guaranteed. All seat numbers are confirmed on travel documents approximately 7-10 days prior to departure.

    We guarantee that all passengers on the same booking will be seated together on the main tour coach. Seats on the transfer coaches to and from the U.K. interchange are not allocated.
    Hot and cold drinks are served on the main tour coaches. Prices are between £1/1.25 Euros and £3/3.75 Euros per drink. Prices will be confirmed by the driver. Drinks may also be served on the transfer coaches but this is not guaranteed.

    Transfer coaches are routed approximately 2-3 weeks before departure and will depend on where passengers are booked to travel from on any particular date as to which route is taken. If you require further detailed information regarding the route to the port you can contact our Customer Service Department on 01709 830333 two weeks before you are due to travel.

    With regard to the route taken by the main tour coach, this is determined by the driver.

    All main tour coaches have on-board toilets. Transfer coaches to and from the U.K. interchange may not have on-board toilets. When non-British coaches are used on transfers and air holidays, an on-board toilet may not be available. However, comfort stops will be made during long journeys.
    All coaches feature air-conditioning. Should the air-conditioning system break down for a period exceeding 12 hours, compensation will be awarded up to a maximum of £10 per fare-paying passenger per tour.
    We operate a passenger interchange at Stop 24 Services near Folkestone. Transfer coaches, including taxis, minibuses, Megabus and National Express, operate to and from the U.K. interchange. You will join your main tour coach at the interchange.
    One medium sized suitcase per person, which should weigh no more than 20kg when full. We may refuse to carry larger or heavier cases. Hand luggage can be stored in the overhead racks aboard the coach.
