Local departure by coach, then to the Reims area for a two-night stay.

We start in the Battlefields of the Champagne, seeing the newly renovated Fort La Pompelle, and then look at the story of the Russian volunteers who fought for France. At Suippes we see where the French fought for Navarin Farm in September 1915, visiting the impressive memorial surrounded by trenches and shell-holes, then see a newly-preserved system of trenches, dugouts and an aid post which was part of the front line in 1915; one of the most amazing and impressive trench systems on the whole Western Front today.

We depart Reims and head for northern France for a two-night stay. Here we look at the story of 'The Labyrinth' at La Targette, seeing the massive German cemetery, before taking lunch in Arras. In the afternoon we visit the ridge at Notre Dame de Lorette taken by the French in May 1915, seeing the General Barbot Memorial as well as the new WW1 Memorial on the ridge and visit the Trench Museum.
