Local departure by coach or Door-to-Door service, then to the Netherlands for an overnight stay.
We travel to Berlin where Soviet forces defeated the German Army in 1945, seeing the site of Hitler’s Bunker and looking at the iconic battle for the Reichstag building. We then continue to our overnight hotel in Berlin.

Departing Berlin, we visit the Seelow Heights – the last major battlefield of the Second World War in Europe. Here, we see where the last remnants of the German Army tried to stop the Russians in 1945.
We then continue to our hotel in Warsaw for a five-night stay.

Today we look at the Warsaw Uprising of August 1944, when the people rose up against the German-occupying forces. We visit the Warsaw Uprising Museum and see the memorials.

Today we examine the Holocaust in Poland, seeing the site of the Palmiry Massacre before visiting Treblinka, one of many infamous German Concentration Camps built in occupied-Poland. Here we see the memorials and the Visitor’s Centre.

This morning, we depart Warsaw and travel to The Wolf’s Lair. The bomb plot against Hitler in July 1944 was a turning point in WW2, and we visit the infamous Wolf’s Lair, Hitler’s battle headquarters on the Eastern Front, where Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg made the attempt on Hitler’s Life. Here we see the ruins of this vast complex. We then continue to our hotel in Gdansk for two nights.

Today we visit the new Gdansk War Museum. Later we look at the opening shots of WW2 at Westerplatte in September 1939, seeing the battlefield and memorials.

Leaving Gdansk, we travel to Poznan and visit the battlefield here, which was the scene of heavy fighting in 1945. We then continue to Berlin for an overnight stay.

You will stay for one night at the Vienna House Easy Berlin, five nights at the Ibis Warzawa Stare Miasto, two nights at the Hotel Zatoka in Gdansk, before returning to Berlin for one night at the Vienna House Easy Berlin or similar.
Overnight stays will be in city-style hotels in the Netherlands.

From start to finish this was a fantastic tour, the pace of the tour was very comfortable the drivers George and Joan were brilliant, the guide Gary for the amount of practice he had was absolutely fantastic 10 out of 10. Hotels and food was out of this world.

This was the first time that this tour was being seen and I think, on the whole, it was a great experience. Obviously there were a few teething problems but overall it didn't stop my enjoyment of the experience. The guide (Norman Sibbald) was very competent and his knowledge helped me enjoy the tour. The trips and venues were very well chosen and helped me understand exactly what I was experiencing. There was, however, one problem which may need to be looked into and that was our day in Gdansk. In the morning we visited the battlefield at Westerplatz and were due to visit the main war museum in the city in the afternoon. Unfortunately on this particular day it seemed as if everyone was paying a visit as there was a very long queue waiting to get inside and our tickets which were allowing us to get in at 2pm were useless and hence the majority of the tour didn't get inside. Perhaps it would be better to swap these two visits could be rearranged. The hotels that we stayed at were clean and the staff very courteous. A few people did complain about the hotel in Berlin being near to a railway track on our first visit but Norman seemed to have sorted this out for our next visit. The only down point to the tour was the official tone taken by the drivers (Chris and Luke). One time, early on in the tour, we arrived at a site and Norman gave a time for getting back onto the coach and then corrected himself. Unfortunately this wasn't heard by a member of the group who asked Luke about the time and was told that if he hadn't heard then he should listen more closely to what was being said. Another time, in Gdansk, a group of us including myself who couldn't enter the museum needed to use a toilet and so returned to the coach to use the facility onboard to be told by both drivers that it was highly irregular and not to make a mess. I felt as if I was a child being reprimanded for not being able to control my bladder. On the whole I enjoyed the tour and knew from the beginning that with it being a new tour there would be a few difficulties but thanks to Norman I came away knowing a little more about the war in Poland and gained knowledge in finding out about 2 uprisings in Warsaw when I only knew of one (the Jewish Ghetto uprising).

Hotel in Berlin was not suitable. Next to train tracks and train ran all night. Hotel had no restaurant or bar. Nothing close by for dining. Bad location. Also museums in Warsaw were free during our visits and the attendance made it over crowded. 45 minutes to wait in line get in and 30 minutes in line for each exhibit while inside. Better planning is required.
