We continue to Switzerland and our hotel for the next six nights, the Hotel Engel in Emmetten.

We make our way to Wilderswil this morning where we join the Schynige Platte Railway. With its restored carriages, it is hauled up the mountain by vintage train engines. Enjoy the views as we scale the mountain before enjoying the facilities at the top, including a café with stunning views over the valleys below and the Jungfrau mountain. For the adventurous, there are numerous hiking opportunities or wander through the Botanical Alpine Garden.

We start the day by making our way to Interlaken, where we board the Bernese Oberland Railway. Enjoy the stunning scenery as we wind our way through the mountains to Kleine Scheidegg.

We have the chance to enjoy this mountain station before continuing to Grindelwald, before returning to Interlaken by coach. For those wanting to experience the Jungfraujoch to the ‘Top of Europe’, tickets can be bought direct on the day. In the afternoon, we have free time in Interlaken, nestled between Lakes Brienz and Thun and at the foot of imposing snow-dusted mountains.

This morning we head to Brienz, on the banks of the Lake bearing its name, where you can enjoy some free time to look around the town or relax by the blue waters of the lake.

We then enjoy a cruise along the lake. Fed by the surrounding glaciers giving it the distinctive colour, we pass picturesque villages and steep mountains before arriving in Interlaken and making the short walk to Harder Kulm, known as the Top of Interlaken. Enjoy a ride on the funicular railway to 1,322m above sea level and experience the stunning views.

Enjoy some free time in Emmetten today or join our optional Mountain Magic excursion and explore Switzerland’s stunning mountain peaks and passes, enjoying a day filled with scenic delights.
