Today we visit the ancient university town of Heidelberg. The city of Heidelberg enjoys a beautiful location on the banks of the River Neckar. It is often referred to as the ‘Romantic Town’ on account of its castle ruins and red sandstone buildings, which dominate the city. Heidelberg castle has been described as the most beautiful castle ruin of Germany, and enjoys a prominent location overlooking the town and from where the views across Heidelberg and the Neckar are astounding.
During our visit we include the funicular to the castle and a tour around the courtyard and the castle garden.

Today we visit the historic city of Speyer. The former centre of the Holy Roman Empire in Germany, now the city’s romantic alleys and attractive squares are centred around its beautiful cathedral.
Your guide will lead you through the charming streets to take your seat at the 800-metre long Emperor’s Table. Running between the cathedral and the Postplatz and known as the ‘gourmet mile’, you will be able to sample the exquisite food, fine wines and refreshing beers from the kitchen and cellars of the restaurateurs of Speyer and the surrounding area.
