Tatton Park and Beautiful Chatsworth

Local departure by coach, then on to east Cheshire and Shrigley Hall, an elegant Victorian country house, for a four-night stay.

We enjoy a leisurely day in Tatton Park. The estate contains a medieval Manor House, and a Neo-classical mansion where you can discover the dramatic contrast between life above and below stairs. The mansion’s opulent state rooms are resplendent with rich furnishings, important artwork collections and a fine library, while the humble servants' quarters consist of a scullery, kitchen and salting room – you can imagine them going about their daily tasks and preparations for elaborate dinner parties held by the owners, the Egerton family. There’s also a rare breed farm and deer park, set in fifty acres of lavish landscaped gardens, for you to wander through at leisure.

Spend time at leisure in the lovely setting of Shrigley Hall or perhaps join our optional excursion to Buxton. Our journey takes us through the Staffordshire Moorlands, past the Roaches rocky crags and the ‘Winking Man,’ to Buxton, a quaint spa town in the Peak District.

This morning we visit Bakewell, best known for delicious Bakewell Pudding which is thought to have been created by accident in the 19th century.

Later, we visit Chatsworth House, home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire and one of the country’s grandest stately homes. Marvel at the magnificent art collection, impressive architecture and extensive gardens.
