Meet us in Scotland and discover rugged landscapes, famous whiskies and the natural beauty of Royal Deeside. Follow in the footsteps of the Queen as we tour Balmoral Castle, the Royal Residence. Then we visit Grantown and tour Speyside’s famous Malt Whisky Trail, before returning through stunning Grampian Highland scenery. And, to top this delightful holiday off, we head to Aberdeen and embark on the Castle trail, visiting Banchory and seeing the Crathes Castle and Gardens.

Set amongst the magnificent scenery of Royal Deeside in the shadows of Lochnagar is Balmoral Castle, The Queen’s Royal Residence, and described by Queen Victoria as 'my dear paradise in the Highlands'. To make the most of your visit, a local castle guide will take you on a tour of the castle and grounds, telling you tales along the way. Later, enjoy free time in the riverside Deeside town of Ballater.

Over the mountain tops and through the villages of Lecht and Tomintoul we visit Grantown on Spey before heading along Speyside’s famous Malt Whisky Trail – the world’s most recognised and well-known whisky region and the only one of its kind in the world. Famous brands like Glenfiddich and Chivas Regal distil here, together with twelve others like Dallas Dhu and Benromach. Enjoy a dedicated tour and tasting of four whiskies with a whisky expert, before returning through Grampian Highland scenery.

We firstly visit Banchory where the Castle Trail starts. The 50 mile trail has more castles per acre than anywhere else in the U.K. including Craigievar, Houghton, Fraser and Drum Castles. Entry is included into 16th Century Crathes Castle and Gardens with its turrets and towers, winding staircases, ornate ceilings, 240 hectares of formal gardens and its resident ghost! We have free time in the 'Granite City' of Aberdeen, Scotland’s third largest city.

Accommodation
You will stay for four nights at the 4-star Mercure Aberdeen Ardoe House Hotel and Spa. This beautiful 19th century mansion house is set in 30 acres of tranquil Aberdeenshire countryside with 120 traditionally decorated bedrooms. It is said that the nearby royal residence of Balmoral Castle inspired the design for the Ardoe House’s fairy tale exterior. Ardoe House is three miles from Aberdeen, and the magnificent views across the River Dee makes it an exceptional country retreat. All bedrooms feature satellite T.V. and wi-fi throughout.
Whilst staying at the Ardoe House Hotel, enjoy dining in the sophisticated surroundings of the Blairs Restaurant or, for something more informal, sample the delights of Soapie’s Lounge Bar. The hotel offers an indoor heated pool, sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi.
