Verona boasts an abundance of fine palaces, churches and monuments, which adorn its alleyways and squares and, of course, the famous 1st century arena, now home to the prestigious Opera Festival.
Our informative guide will reveal many of the fascinating stories behind the history of the buildings and personalities. Continue to our hotel in Lido di Jesolo for four nights.

Accompanied by a local guide we will discover the secrets of the city’s incredible architecture, the splendour of the Doge’s Palace (entrance at extra cost) and the majestic St. Mark’s Square.

We start at the Piazza dell’Unità, in the heart of the city, which was formed on the earthen mounds of the old Roman harbour, before continuing on to San Giusto hill, where the Roman city was first settled.
This afternoon we continue to Miramare Castle (entrance included). This romantic castle, built on a rocky cliff, was built from 1860-1865 by the Austrian Archduke Maximilian of the Habsburgs. Maximilian and his wife Charlotte, experienced only a short period of happiness there, but they left behind for posterity their testimony of true love and melancholy.
The castle park is filled with rare and precious trees, which the archduke, handpicked to be planted there.

The ‘Piazza della Libertà’ with its unique architectural ambience, is also influenced by its proximity to Slovenia.
See the sights of Udine, including its impressive cathedral and enjoy some free time, before the tour continues on to San Daniele which is well known for its ham.
We will find out how this delicacy is produced during a tour of a ham factory and a tasting is, of course, also included.

We meet our guide in the Piazza dei Signori with its impressive palaces, and then explore the rest of the city before heading out along the Prosecco Wine Road. From Conegliano we follow the gentle hills and lush vineyards, passing through the villages of Foletto, Piave and Valdobbiadene.
During the day we will visit a local winery where we will learn how this light sparkling wine is produced before enjoying a tasting with local snacks. We continue to our hotel in the Vipiteno area.

Accommodation
You will stay for four nights at the 4-star Hotel Salus in Lido di Jesolo (or similar). Overlooking the famous and lovely beach of Jesolo, the Hotel Salus is located in the centre of Lido Ovest near Piazza Marina. Hotel Salus has an outdoor pool, private beach and restaurant terrace.
Overnight stays in northern France, northern Italy and Belgium are in city-style hotels.
