After enjoying breakfast, our morning will begin with a coach journey to Wirksworth Station. Here, we'll step aboard the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway. Having once served as a terminus for the Midland Railway and later revived in 2002, this railway promises a delightful trip through the Peak District's heart.

We will then travel by coach to the renowned Chatsworth House and Gardens. With entry to both the house and gardens, you can explore at your own pace. The story of Chatsworth dates back to 1549 when the land was purchased by Elizabeth and William Cavendish for a sum of £600. This estate once served as the residence of the Elizabeth, Countess of Shrewsbury, commonly referred to as Bess of Hardwick. A woman of significant influence and means, Bess's married four times, which bolstered her status and wealth. She married William Cavendish in 1547 and they had eight children, making Chatsworth their home. A later marriage to George Talbot, the 6th Earl of Shrewsbury, in 1567, elevated her to the esteemed title of the Countess of Shrewsbury. Over the following generations, Chatsworth was transformed into the house we see today.

Later, our coach returns us to our hotel for dinner this evening.
