Today, we visit Lyme Park, a sprawling 1,400-acre estate. One of Derbyshire's magnificent stately homes, it is a proud possession of the National Trust. Set against the backdrop of the Peak District, Lyme Park was a great sporting estate back in its heyday. The Italianate-style mansion enchants with its intricate interiors, from the breathtaking Long Gallery to the lavish Drawing Room. Outside, you might recognise the luxurious herbaceous borders of the estate from the BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice.

Later, we make the journey back to Buxton. There will be free time to enjoy the hotel and its facilities or wander around Buxton at your own pace.
