Oberammergau Last Passion Play & Incredible Austria
On this fully escorted coach holiday, you’ll be there for the final performance of the Oberammergau Passion Play in 2030, as well as taking in some of Austria’s most charming cities and sights along the way.
For all of those involved, the last play is the emotional highlight of the Passion Year, as everyone is aware that it will be years before the Passion Play is performed again. The day marks the end of an intensive rehearsal and performance period; for more than a year, over 2,300 participants will have gathered almost daily in the Passion Play Theatre to perform the ‘Play of the Suffering, Death and Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ’. Your afternoon and evening in the theatre will be filled with that same emotion.
A holiday to Austria would not be complete without a stop-off in Salzburg, a city best appreciated on foot, with its elegant squares and pavement cafés. In contrast, you’ll also have the chance to experience the outstanding natural beauty of the Austrian Tyrol on our optional excursion to Krimml Falls and Kitzbühel.

Local departure by coach or Door-to-Door service, then to Belgium for an overnight stay.
We leave Belgium and head to Oberammergau for a relaxing evening before the main event tomorrow.

Enjoy a leisurely morning before lunch is served ahead of the Passion Play.
The play has a running time of approximately five hours in total. The performance begins at 2:00pm, concluding around 10:00pm, with a three-hour break at 5:00pm when dinner is provided. After the performance, you will be transferred back to your accommodation.
The play is traditionally performed in German, and a textbook with the complete play text is included on all tours.

We depart Oberammergau this morning and travel to Innsbruck for some free time. The capital of the Tyrol, Innsbruck has a fine setting against a backdrop of Alpine mountains and regal buildings. See the famous Golden Roof and take in the atmosphere as you wander the pretty streets.
We then continue to our hotel in the Tyrol for a three-night stay.

Today, join our included excursion to the ‘Sound of Music’ city, Salzburg. Free time here allows you to explore the narrow shopping lanes and lovely squares, before sampling a strudel and coffee in one of the many pavement cafés.

Accommodation
You will stay for three nights in a minimum 3-star hotel in
the Austrian Tyrol, such as the Hotel Harfenwirt or Hotel Sonnschein in
Niederau. You will also stay for two nights in the Oberammergau area.
Overnight stays in Belgium will be in city-style
hotels.
Your Choice of Accommodation in Oberammergau
All our holidays include accommodation in either
Oberammergau itself or the surrounding villages, so you can arrive in
Oberammergau in good time before the play. We offer a choice of
accommodation including hotels and guest houses which have been graded by the
Passion Play committee according to the facilities available. All categories of
accommodation will include a shower or bath and WC.
There are three different accommodation categories to choose
from (subject to confirmation from the committee):
Category D: 2-star hotels or 3-star pensions/guest
houses
Category C: 3-star hotels or 4-star pensions/guest houses
Category B: 4-star hotels or 5-star pensions/guest houses
Exact details of accommodation will be confirmed closer to the time.
