This morning we enjoy a drive through some of Northern Ireland's beautiful countryside. Leaving the city behind, the landscape gradually opens into rolling green hills, patchwork fields and picturesque farmland, dotted with grazing sheep and traditional farmhouses. As you approach the spectacular Glenshane Pass, enjoy views towards the rugged Sperrin Mountains.
We will make a stop at Glenshane Country Farm and enjoy a demonstration led by fourth-generation shepherd Jamese McCloy, who shares fascinating stories of his family's farming heritage and shows how his talented sheepdogs skilfully gather the flock and guide the sheep into traditional pens, offering a memorable taste of authentic rural Irish life.
We then make an included lunch stop at Friels Bar & Restaurant in the picturesque village of Swatragh. Established in 1835 and run by the same family for five generations, this typical Irish pub has an ornate bar counter and a roaring fire, and its walls are lined with historic photographs and Guinness memorabilia. Traditional Irish stew and soda bread will be served for a unique experience. Above the pub is Gorta: Swatragh's Famine Story, a fascinating visitor centre that tells the story of the Famine from a local community perspective (entrance is not included).
On our way back to Belfast we will stop on the Northern Ireland coast to discover one of Ireland's oldest towns, Carrickfergus, home to the impressive 12th-century Carrickfergus Castle, a picturesque harbour, a rich history and beautiful views across Belfast Lough.
