Ring in the New Year on a Rhine river cruise. Join your ship, the Rhine Princess, as we set sail from Cologne, enjoying time in Rüdesheim and onto Koblenz where we enjoy a New Year’s Eve gala dinner and countdown to midnight together for a fantastic firework display. End the trip in style as we toast to the New Year with an optional spot of wine-tasting in the renowned wine region, the Moselle Valley.

Local departure by coach, then to Cologne to join our ship for a four-night cruise.
Enjoy a morning at leisure in this exciting cathedral city. Explore the many sights, such as the splendid Gothic style cathedral, which took from 1248 until 1880 to be fully completed. Explore the bustling shopping streets, such as Schildergasse and Hohestrasse, and the relaxing waterfront. Other attractions include the Cologne City Hall, which was once a medieval house and is still used today for official business, or the Museum Ludwig which features modern art, including one of the largest Picasso collections in Europe. This afternoon, following lunch on board, sit back and relax as the Rhine Princess sets sail. Meet the crew, as we cruise to the old Roman town of Andernach, where we moor overnight.

Our cruise continues past Koblenz and through the Rhine Gorge to Oberwesel. In the afternoon, enjoy an included excursion by coach to the delightful town of Rüdesheim, home to the famous Drosselgasse, a narrow street lined with a varied selection of bars and shops. While in Rudesheim you can join an optional visit to Siegfried’s Mechanical Music Museum with its superb collection of self-playing musical instruments. It is one of the largest collections of self-playing mechanical musical instruments in the world and provides a spectacle of fascination. Your guide will tell you about the various instruments and you will have the chance to hear many of the instruments and fairground organs play their different tunes. (Our optional visit takes us by road train to Siegfried’s Mechanical Music Museum, returning on foot to our coach.) We rejoin the ship in Koblenz for a New Year’s Eve gala dinner party on board. Enjoy the fireworks in Koblenz as we welcome in the New Year.

After a leisurely brunch, join our optional coach excursion along the Moselle Valley and enjoy winetasting at the House of Anton Hammes. The Moselle River is the longest tributary river of the Rhine and reveals some stunning scenery as the river gently meanders between the hills of the Hunsrück and Eifel regions. We enjoy a scenic drive to the House of Anton Hammes in the village of Alken where we sample local Moselle wine. As well as the winetasting you will have the opportunity to purchase the wine should you wish to do so. Return to the ship and sail to Bonn.
