On this unique Christmas Markets coach holiday, enjoy a taste of the German region of Saxony, as we journey to Dresden, where you can indulge in some festive shopping and join a guided tour exploring the history of this spectacular city that was rebuilt after WW2. And why not join our optional excursion to the festive markets of Leipzig, one of the oldest and largest Christmas markets, dating back to the 1500s! On this festive short break, you will also delight in journeys on two of Germany’s most spectacular railways, The Wesseritztalbahn, visiting Dippoldiswalde and the Lossnitzgrundbahn to Moritzburg to see its beautiful Baroque place, adding to the magic of this Christmas holiday!

Itinerary

Local departure by coach, then to Belgium for an overnight stay.
Today we head across Germany to Dresden and our hotel for four nights.

This morning, we include a guided tour of Dresden. Learn more about this fascinating 800 year-old city, which literally rose again from the ashes to be lovingly restored after the Second World War.
During the tour, you will see sights such as the famous silhouette of the Church of Our Lady, the Zwinger and the Old Town.
Afterwards, visit the Christmas market: the lights, the scent of mulled wine and Christmas music spreads throughout the city. The Dresden Striezelmarkt, one of Germany’s oldest Christmas markets, is waiting for you!
In the afternoon, we will travel south to Freital-Hainsberg where you will board the Weisseritztalbahn, a little train which will take you to the Dippoldiswalde, climbing 348m in the process. Slowly but surely, the steam engine makes the journey, as you can enjoy the pleasant landscape.
Tonight, dinner will be served in a traditional restaurant in Dresden.

In the late morning we will ride the Lössnitzgrundbahn, an old steam train dating back to 1884. Departing from Radebeul East, we will make our way to Moritzburg where we will visit the Baroque Palace. The impressive park, with numerous sculptures, is complemented by the rich interior of the palace. Learn more about the history of this beautiful building via audio guides.

Join our optional excursion to Leipzig to explore the Christmas markets. Dating back to the 15th century, Leipzig Christmas Market is not only one of the oldest but also one of the largest of Germany's Christmas markets. Enjoy the array of festive and culinary delights. B,D
