Join us in the 70th anniversary year of the end of WWII in Europe, as we travel across France, Germany and Holland, visiting the major battlefield sites of the last days of the war.

Local departure by coach or Door-to-Door service, then to Reims for an overnight stay.
We visit the Surrender Museum in Reims itself where the American forces signed a formal declaration of surrender in May 1945. We then travel into Eastern France and look at the American advance in the Lorraine in 1944/45, seeing the battlefield at Arracourt and an M4 Sherman tank and also the American Lorraine Cemetery, which is the largest US Second World War cemetery in Europe. We stay overnight in the Colmar area.

We follow the American and French advance into Germany, seeing the French Sherman at Colmar and travelling into Germany to see where US troops liberated Dachau Concentration Camp. Overnight in Bad Aibling near Munich.

Today we travel to Nuremberg and look at the battle for the city in April 1945 and the Nazi Party Rally Grounds. We continue to Leipzig and follow the fighting there, staying overnight in the Leipzig area.

The next day we follow the final American advance to the River Elbe and visit the historic site at Torgau where American and Soviet troops met up for the first time, seeing the memorial to this important event. We then continue to Berlin for four nights.

In Berlin we look at the final battles for the Third Reich and see where Polish and Soviet forces crossed the River Oder in 1945, seeing the memorial to the first T34 across the river and where the Soviets made their bridgehead. In the afternoon, we look at the vital battle of the Seelow Heights, visiting the war museum, the site of the battle of Klessin and Soviet graves from 1945.

We take a short walking tour of the centre of Berlin, seeing where some of the final fighting took place in April 1945; many buildings still show visible battle damage from this period. We visit the impressive Soviet War Cemetery with its massive memorial at Treptower Park and also the museum at Karlshorst where the Soviets signed the final declaration of surrender with the Germans on 8th May 1945.

At Gattow we visit the huge collection of German military aviation spanning the two world wars, and in the afternoon, return to Berlin for a look at the Battle of the Reichstag and the fighting around the Brandenburg Gate, seeing the Russian Memorial and T34 tanks.

From Berlin we travel to Bergen-Belsen and look at the story of the British advance through Germany seeing British graves at Celle War Cemetery and the Visitors' Centre and site of Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, liberated by British troops in 1945. We then travel to the Soltau/Munster area for two nights.

We visit Luneberg Heath in the morning to see where General Bernard Montgomery signed the first surrender of German forces on the 5th May 1945. We then see Becklingen War Cemetery with some of the final British casualties from WW2, including the last man to be awarded the Victoria Cross: Edward Charlton V.C. of the Irish Guards. In the afternoon we go to the Panzer Museum in Munster with its incredible display for tanks and fighting vehicles, including a King Tiger, Tiger I, Panther and Panzer IVs as well as T34s and other Allied vehicles.

Departing Germany we travel into Holland and look at the Canadian liberation of this area in 1945 seeing some of the final graves of Allied servicemen to die here at Holton Canadian War Cemetery and looking at the Battle of Arnhem in 1945. Overnight in Wolfheze near Arnhem before we return home.

You will stay for one night each at the 3-star Ibis Reims Tinqueux; a 3-star hotel in Colmar; a 3-star hotel such as Hotel Johannisbad in Bad Aibling; and the 4-star Ramada Leipzig-Halle. In Berlin we stay for four nights at the Tryp By Wyndham Berlin City East, or similar. In Soltau/Munster we stay for two nights at the 3-star Hotel Meyn, or similar and then one-night at a minimum 3-star hotel in Holland.
