Itinerary

Local departure by coach or Door-to-Door service, then to Paris for an overnight stay.
We begin our journey by coach to the Loire Valley, where we visit the pretty town of Blois. Blois, known as the capital of the Loir‑et‑Cher area, was first mentioned in the 6th century and offers a wealth of historic buildings alongside more modern architecture.
We then continue on to Rochefort for our four‑night stay.

Today’s included excursion takes us to La Rochelle, a popular seaside resort renowned for its beaches, beautifully preserved buildings and excellent seafood. The old port area offers the impressive 14th and 15th‑century defensive towers, while the arcaded streets of Rue du Palais and Rue des Merciers showcase charming half‑timbered houses typical of the region.

Join our included excursion to Cognac, a town enjoying worldwide fame thanks to the brandy produced here, with many well‑known brands still based in the area. The historic centre is ideal for a leisurely stroll, with beautiful buildings constructed in local white stone, the St. Jacques towers beside the Charente River, and Rue Grande, lined with several attractive half‑timbered houses. The visit continues at the historic Château de Cognac and its cellars, concluding with a Cognac tasting.
Later, we return to the old port of Rochefort to explore an important part of France’s naval history. The magnificent Corderie Royale, where ropes were produced for naval ships for more than 300 years, showcases architectural elegance that earned it the nickname ‘Versailles of the Sea’. The site also features the replica of the French frigate Hermione, reconstructed over a 20‑year period.

Today we head across the land bridge to Île de Ré, an island known for its beautiful sandy beaches, seaside resorts, salt and oyster beds, and picturesque villages. We visit to the Phare des Baleines lighthouse, where you can climb to the top and enjoy scenic views across the island.
We continue to Saint‑Martin‑de‑Ré, a charming fortified port town set within star‑shaped ramparts and known for its lively atmosphere.

We leave our hotel and head to Poitiers for a brief stop. This historic city, capital of the Poitou, has preserved much of its medieval charm.
Following time in Poitiers, we continue to the Paris area for an overnight stay.
