Visit the world renowned Christmas Markets of Germany including two of the oldest in Dresden and Leipzig. In Dresden, many different markets have developed over the years including the most famous Striezelmarkt, first held in 1434. Leipzig is home to the second-oldest market in Germany with over 300 festive stalls to peruse. We will also have chance to explore the markets in our host town of Chemnitz.

We depart our hotel after breakfast and continue our journey through Germany to our host town of Chemnitz.

Today's excursion takes us to Leipzig where the Christmas Markets date back to 1458 and 6 separate markets are magically matched to the historical scenery of Leipzig. Over 250 stalls make it one of Germany's largest markets, and you have the whole day to explore.

Today we head to Dresden where you have time to explore the Dresdener Striezelmarkt. The market dates back to the 15th century and the word Striezel takes its name from the traditional cake, Stollen. The local Stollen is a must when visiting the city.

This morning we offer an optional excursion to the town of Zwickau. The town is home to a pretty market including an impressive Christmas tree with 500 lights. We return to Chemnitz with time to explore the markets in our host town. Over 200 stalls based around the Town Hall offer Christmas gifts and local delicacies.
