Today, we visit the grand Castle Howard. Nestled within a sprawling thousand acres of verdant parkland, it stands as one of England’s finest historic houses. The house was constructed in 1699 and took over 100 years to fully complete, spanning the lifetimes of three earls.
Although the great fire of 1940 fire claimed much of its structure, including the original dome, a dedicated conservation project has resorted Castle Howard to its former glory. The surrounding gardens and grounds are truly brilliant, with a walled garden, woodland, temples and monuments just waiting to be explored. This opulent residence may seem familiar, having featured in famous TV shows and films including Bridgerton, Young Victoria, and Brideshead Revisited.

Today, we visit the enchanting city of York. Encircled by preserved Roman walls, this North Yorkshire gem has over 2,000 years of history to uncover, especially with its Viking influences. Walk the cobbled streets of the iconic Shambles and discover a wide range of independent shops or visit York Minster, the largest Gothic cathedral in Northern Europe.
