Local departure by coach, then to Remagen for a four-night stay.
We walk the short distance to Remagen station, and travel by train to the city of Bonn for an included visit to the famous Christmas market. The former capital of the ‘Federal Republic of Germany’, home to Germany’s largest university and birthplace of the brilliant composer, Ludwig van Beethoven, Bonn has attracted visitors from all over the world for hundreds of years.
Be sure to see many of the famous sights, including the old City Hall and the Münster – the city’s oldest church. Every year, Bonn's Christmas fair conjures up a festive atmosphere. Browse the many stalls whilst enjoying Glühwein, gingerbread, potato pancakes and sausages.

Our optional excursion takes us first to the Moselle town of Cochem, known for its historic half-timbered houses and fabulous Reichsburg Castle. You will see the festively decorated stalls within a lovely old town setting. Why not sample some of the tasty delicacies or try the local white mulled wine, considered to be a Moselle speciality.
From Cochem, we head to Koblenz to see the Christmas markets. The traditional Koblenz Christmas Market is one of the largest in Rhineland-Palatinate. More than 100 stands are spread over several locations in the old city (squares such as: Munzplatz, Am Plan, Josef-Gorres-Platz, Jesuitenplatz and Willi-Horter-Platz) and offer a huge selection of gifts for the holiday table, as well as an extensive range of arts, crafts and Christmas decorations. All the flavours of Christmas are here, including spicy mulled wine and sweet smelling Christmas cakes.

Today’s included excursion takes us to Limburg, a town situated on the Lahn River, and famous for its striking cathedral with two very tall towers, seven spires, and brightly painted exterior frescoes. In the old town, or Altstadt, you can see timber-framed houses dating from the 13th century, plus some from around the 19th century.
The Christmas market stalls can be found dotted around the Neumarkt and the historic Kornmarkt. Take in the festive atmosphere and delightful aromas of gingerbread, stollen and speculoos biscuits as you stroll the streets of this charming town. Tonight we enjoy a farewell drink "Feuerzangenbowle” mulled wine - the perfect way to end your festive markets break.
