Christmas in the Bavarian Forest

Explore the delights of the Bavarian Forest, together with time in the charming Czech city of Cesky Krumlov and Passau, the ‘Three Rivers City. Get into the festive spirit as we spend Christmas Eve in Passau, explore the Old Town, and visit the famous cathedral before we head back to our hotel for an evening filled with festive fun. On Christmas Day, build up an appetite before a delicious Christmas dinner, on our included guided walk of the beautiful Bavarian Forest. Before we return home, on Boxing Day we cross the border into the Czech Republic, where we spend time in Cesky Krumlov, whose Old Town is home to over 300 medieval buildings. Wander the streets, discover the famous sights and perhaps partake in some last-minute shopping, the best way to end the perfect holiday!

Today we visit the nearby city of Passau on our included excursion. Sitting on the confluence of the rivers Danube, Inn and Ilz the border town of Passau is considered by many to be one of the most spectacular settings in Germany. Famous for its Gothic heritage, Passau’s magnificent St Stephen’s Cathedral is defiantly worth a visit. Although mainly Baroque in style, due to rebuilding work that had to take place due to a number of large fires, the Church is in fact gothic, and is famed for being the home to the world’s largest organ. To make the most of your visit, our included guided sightseeing tour will introduce you to the sights. In the afternoon we return to the hotel to enjoy the Christmas festivities including music, Christmas songs and coffee and cake.

Merry Christmas! Today you can enjoy the beauty of the Bavarian Forest on an included guided hiking tour. In the afternoon, relax with coffee/tea and biscuits in the hotel ahead of our Christmas Dinner this evening.

Bavarian Forest Guided Hiking Tour

Enjoy a half day guided excursion to the Czech city of Cesky Krumlov. This charming town experienced its greatest prosperity during the rule of Lords of Rožmberk (1302-1602), who chose Ceský Krumlov to become the seat of their kingdom. It is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and a lively cosmopolitan town with a unique atmosphere surrounded by unspoiled countryside. Dominated by a Castle stretching over the meandering Vltava River, Ceský Krumlov's narrow cobblestone streets wind along romantic nooks between patrician houses. Here you will find cosy inns, coffee shops, and ancient taverns.
