Continue south into northern Italy and to our overnight hotel near Parma.

This morning we begin our journey south, pausing in the San Marino area at a retail outlet for some last-minute shopping! We continue southwards, before arriving at our 4-star hotel, Abbazia Collemedio Resort & Restaurant, where we will stay for ten nights. The hotel is nestled amongst rolling hills, not far from Perugia.

Enjoy the magical festive atmosphere during our excursion to Perugia. Perugia is a lovely medieval city rich in history and art. The historical centre reveals traces of both Etruscan and Roman civilisations; there is time to explore the well-preserved walls, cathedrals, piazzas or wander the labyrinthine alleyways.
We will visit the famous Perugia chocolate factory for a guided tour before free time in the city. This evening, we’ll continue the celebrations with a Christmas Eve gala dinner at the hotel.

Enjoy a leisurely start today as we set out in search of some wonderful Umbrian scenery. Montefalco is known as the 'balcony of Umbria' for its elevated position and spectacular vistas. We visit Spoleto which has a compact centre filled with a wealth of history; the Ponte delle Torri bridge and hilltop fortress add to the town’s attractive appearance.

Today, you can enjoy free time at leisure or join us on our optional excursion to the neighbouring region of Tuscany, with a visit to the delightful towns of Siena and San Gimignano.
A maze of red-brick buildings, Siena is a wonderfully preserved medieval treasure trove. At its heart lies Il Campo, renowned as Italy’s most beautiful piazza, which bustles with life and is the scene of the frenetic Palio horse race twice each year.
Next we travel to San Gimignano, which is instantly recognisable by its thirteen stone towers, from which the town takes its nickname of ‘Medieval Manhattan’. Enjoy beautiful views over the Tuscan countryside from the town’s lovely hilltop position.

We say goodbye to Umbria this morning and commence our journey north to our overnight hotel in the Parma area. En route we visit the wonderful Renaissance city of Florence.
