Itinerary

Local departure by coach, then to Troyes for a four-night stay.
Join our included excursion to Reims, the capital of Champagne. Known as Royal Reims, due to it being the place of coronation for many French monarchs, Reims is home to one of France’s finest Gothic cathedrals, and many champagne houses. Learn more about champagne on our included tour of one of the local champagne houses, where we also enjoy a tasting. Later head through the vineyards to Epernay.

A full-day, optional excursion to Auxerre. This pretty city is a joy to explore, with its old town starting from behind the quay. Walk through the steep narrow cobbled streets with their timbered houses up to the newly restored Cathédrale St. Etienne. Rue Fécauderie is also interesting with restaurants and boutiques. The Tour de l’Horloge, a magnificent sundial, leads into the pedestrian shopping area.

Today, we include an excursion to Chablis, situated in the north-east of Burgundy. This upmarket town is a pleasure to stroll around, with its boutiques, restaurants and cafés. For many, Chablis is the finest of the white wine appellations and we include a tour of one of the wine houses, where we also sample some local wines.
