Your Itinerary

Door to Door service or local departure by coach, then to Assmannshausen, Germany for a three-night stay.

Today we travel the short distance to the ever-popular ‘wine town’ of Rudesheim. Home to the vibrant ‘Drosselgasse’, a narrow alley lined with restaurants, shops and bars, many playing traditional Rhineland music and the perfect place to enjoy a glass of local wine or beer. Why not join our optional ‘Exploring Rudesheim’ excursion. We travel by road train to the cellars of Adolf Störzel where there will be the chance to sample some of the local produce. From here we continue to Siegfried’s Mechanical Music Museum, where you can see one of the largest collections of self-playing mechanical musical instruments. Your guide will tell you about the various instruments and you will have the chance to listen to many of the instruments and fairground organs play their different tunes.

    • Included meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Marvel at the beautiful scenery of the Rhine Valley on today’s optional excursion. We see the world-famous Loreley Rock; and then continue to Boppard, where the splendid Rhine Promenade is situated. Later we visit St Goar, home to the world’s largest cuckoo clock shop. During the day there will be the chance to join an optional cruise along Germany’s largest river, the Rhine. A cruise through the Rhine gorge, famous for its ancient castles, picturesque villages and vine clad slopes is the perfect way to view the splendour of the Rhine. The cruise will last for approximately 2 ½ hours during which time you will be served lunch on board.

    • Included meals: Breakfast, Dinner

We depart the Rhine Valley today and make our way to Austria. En route we pause in the beautiful town of Heidelberg. Heidelberg is rightly famous due to its proximity to the Neckar River, its fabulous castle, now partially destroyed, and its 18th century streets. After free time we continue to our hotel in the Austrian Tyrol where we stay for the next four nights. (Suitable refreshment stops will be made en route).

    • Included meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Today we include a visit to Salzburg, one of the most beautiful cities in Austria. Why not join our optional guided walking tour accompanied by our local English-speaking guide. This walking tour lasts approximately 90 minutes and takes in the many sights and attractions of this famous alpine city. Admire the baroque splendour of the churches and cathedral, the might of the Hohensalzburg fortress and also the quaint Getriedegasse, which with its wrought iron signs that overhang the doors, is one of the most beautiful shopping streets of Austria. Salzburg is also known as the ‘Sound of Music’ city and during our tour you will see many sights featured in the film including Mirabell Gardens where Maria and the children sang ‘Do-Re-Mi’. A visit to Salzburg would not be complete without a mention of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and before the tour is over we see his former birthhouse and also the square that is named after and dedicated to the famous composer. The remainder of the day is spent at leisure for you to explore independently.
