From craggy peaks to glorious glens, luscious lochs and shimmering lakes, this holiday explores some of Europe’s most stunning landscapes. We take a cruise on the beautiful waters of Loch Katrine on board one of the oldest steamships in the world, the Sir Walter Scott. We’ll also visit The Kelpies, see the Falkirk Wheel, and head towards Edinburgh on a cruise into the Firth towards Inchcolm Island, to marvel at the incredible views. But the real highlight of this tour, has to be seeing The Five Highland Lochs including Loch Long and Gare Loch.

Join the tour at the Airth Castle Hotel, where we stay for four nights.

We travel by coach through the glorious Trossachs National Park where you will fine wild scenery to admire around every corner. Our first visit is to Callander, a pretty town situated on the River Teith. The town is a historical meeting point between the ‘Highlands’ and the ‘Lowlands’. This afternoon you can take your seat on the SS Sir Walter Scott, one of the oldest steamships in the world and cruise the beautiful waters of Loch Katrine whilst listening to the tales and legends of the loch, narrated by a crew member. Named after the famous poet this steamship has been a major visitor attraction for over 100 years and sitting at 110 feet long and 19 feet wide this beautiful vessel is an unforgettable piece of history. Afterwards, we continue through Rob Roy MacGregor country to historical Stirling with its famous castle. Stirling is classed as Scotland’s heritage capital due to it being the location of the Wars of Independence were fought and won. Today Stirling’s history still has a strong presence with its castle, medieval and Renaissance churches and mansions around the Old Town. Stirling Castle was home to many Royals over the years including Mary Queen of Scots and is well worth a visit.

Steam Cruise on Loch Katrine Trossachs

Today we following 20 miles of Loch Lomond shoreline, which is the largest inland stretch of water in Britain. Loch Lomond is famous for its stunning views and being featured in the song ‘The Bonnie Banks O’ Loch Lomond’. We then travel to the ancient town of Inveraray on the edge of Loch Fyne. Inveraray town is steeped in maritime history, with its castle dominating the skyline. Here you can visit some local attractions, shops and a bite to eat. Later we take a loch-side drive along the total length of Loch Long. Loch Long translates from Gaelic as ‘Ship Lake’ and offers some beautiful views and small local villages. We then visit Gare Loch which takes us through Helensburgh, bringing the Firth of Clyde into view.

The Five Highland Lochs

This morning we visit two of Scotland’s top attractions, The Kelpies and nearby Falkirk Wheel, where you will be hoisted 35 metres high on the world’s only rotating boat lift. This afternoon, we head towards Edinburgh with a glorious cruise taking you under the two famous bridges and the third new bridge which opened in 2017. The cruise takes us into the firth towards Inchcolm Island to view various wildlife and landscapes.

You will stay for four nights at the '4–star approved' Airth Castle Hotel and Spa in Airth. Located between Edinburgh and Glasgow, Airth Castle Hotel and Spa is a 14th century castle and country club hotel. The Airth Castle Country Club Hotel is the former stable block and was extensively extended in 1994. The castle was once owned by the family of Robert the Bruce, and sits majestically overlooking the River Forth and central Scotland.
