Local Information

Food & Drink

Cabbage Loaf

Originating from Jersey, cabbage loaf is made by wrapping greased cabbage leaves around dough and baking it in the oven. The cabbage leaves provide a unique aroma, and you’ll be able to find this specialty in many bakeries.

Jersey Royal Potatoes

Exclusively grown by a small group in Jersey, Jersey royal potatoes can only be produced on the island due to the rich, well-drained soil and warm climate. Their taste is distinctively sweet and slightly nutty, and be sure to leave the skin on – that’s where all the flavour is!

Jersey Wonder

These tasty snacks are similar to doughnuts, however the dough is twisted before it is fried and they are never filled with jam or coated in sugar. The housewives of Jersey traditionally prepared their wonders as the tide went out, believing that if they fried them as the tide came in the fat would overflow the pan.
