Itinerary

Regional departure by coach or Door-to-Door service, then to Holyhead for the ferry to Ireland, and onward to our overnight hotel.

Includes Dinner

We leave our hotel after breakfast and head south to Ireland’s second largest city after Dublin, Cork. Located on the banks of the River Lee, Cork is home to some beautiful sights. Be sure to see the Saint Fin Barres Cathedral which was built by Victorian architect, William Burges in the 1800s.

There will be free time in Cork for you to explore at your leisure before we travel the short distance to Blarney, with its famous castle (entrance not included). Built during the 15th and 16th century, a must for any visitor to the castle is to kiss the Blarney Stone. In the past, visitors were required to be lowered over the battlements by their ankles in order to kiss the stone. Nowadays, the stone is set in a wall below the battlements, although anyone wishing to partake is still required to lean backwards from the parapet walk.

From Blarney we continue to our hotel in West Cork for a three-night stay.

Put too much into the programme.

Too much put into the tour. We had little time to fully experience the places visited. The drivers were brilliant as was the coach service i.e. taxiing to and from the coach. The hotels we stayed in were also excellent.

This was an interesting tour with a good mix of scenic drives and cultural centres to explore. Although our driver, Damian, was single-handed he managed to give a lot of interesting information about the places visited and historical facts about Ireland. He knew his stuff! Hotels were generally good. The Celtic Ross Hotel at Rosscarbery was in a beautiful situation. Its only shortcoming was the standard of service at mealtimes. The staff seemed to have no plan when it came to ordering and delivering. Dinner usually took nearly 2 hours to serve. The idea to have breakfast on the ferry was a good one. It saved a rush at the hotel and was an excellent meal. Overall, good value.

Overall the trip was good, but we did not spend enought time in either Cork, or Dublin to take in all the sights, and he dinner service in the hotel The Celtic Cross (dimner) could be improved, had to wait 45 minutes for our dinner to be served on 1 occusion.
