Fly to Olbia, where you will be met and transferred to your hotel on the Costa Smeralda for five nights.

Today, why not join our included excursion of the exclusive and beautiful Costa Smeralda. Costa Smeralda is 55km long and spreads into small and deep bays reminiscent of fjords. We take the ferry from the harbour town of Palau across to the Maddalena Islands. We visit the town of La Maddalena, the only inhabited island of the archipelago. The town is perched on the hill of Guardia Vecchia (156m) in the southern part of the island. A must for any visitor is the promenade behind the port, which houses beautiful 19th century buildings. There will be free time to explore the charming maze of narrow streets and small squares before we return to Palau by ferry.

Today’s included excursion is through the varied landscape of northern Sardinia where you will see reminders of Sardinia’s eventful history, from the ‘nuraghe’ to Romanesque churches built in the Pisan style. We continue to the attractive coastal town of Alghero. The ancient walls still surround the old town centre with its typical alleys and shops where the famous coral is worked and exhibited.

We visit the small town of Nuoro, which boasts some of the best views on the island, then continue through the local vineyards, seeing the ‘murales’ of Orgosolo, which decorate the façades of the buildings that line the winding cobbled lanes. Later we enjoy lunch, sitting in a semi-circle on granite benches covered in oak leaves accompanied by the Pastori shepherds, whose sheep produce the island’s famous peccorini cheese. Enjoy lamb and porchetta, roasted on an open fire, followed by local Sardinian bread and red wine. (Dining outside subject to weather conditions).
