Local departure by coach or Door-to-Door service, then to Belgium for an overnight stay.

Today, we head south to the quaint Rhineland town of Boppard, also known as ‘the pearl of the Rhine’. The picturesque town is famous for its hills, valleys, lively squares and, of course, its wines.

A UNESCO world heritage site, it was the Romans who first made their mark in Boppard, harvesting the grapes for wine. The viticulture of the area has played a significant role in the town’s economy for over 2000 years!

Boasting traditional half-timbered buildings and an attractive riverside promenade, which invites you for a relaxing stroll along the scenic horseshoe bend of the Rhine, Boppard is a true German delight.

We continue to our hotel in the Black Forest for a four-night stay.

Today we will enjoy the traditional Black Forest with our included excursion visiting Triberg, the quintessential Black Forest town, with just over 5,000 inhabitants.

Not only home to world’s largest cuckoo clock, Triberg is also famous for its waterfalls, the ‘highest’ in Germany. The Gutach River flows into multiple cascades and is one of the most popular attractions of the Black Forest.

An the afternoon, we will visit a local baker, who will demonstrate how to make the famously delicious Black Forest Gateau.

You will be taught the tricks and techniques to recreate the authentic dessert when you’re back home – what a tasty reminder of your trip! Of course, no visit would be complete without a slice of the famous cake, so join us as we tuck in to the delicious treat washed down with a coffee.

One of the highlights of our tour awaits on today’s included excursion, as we board the little Pigtail train in Blumberg.

The name, Sauschwänzlebahn, literally meaning pigtail, is derived from the course of the rail track, built between 1887 and 1890, that was necessary to keep the gradient of the line below 1%. Depending on the day, the wagons will either be pulled by a diesel or steam engine.

The journey takes around an hour to Weizen. We head to the pretty lakeside village of Titisee-Neustadt for an included light lunch.

This afternoon, we visit the popular Rothaus brewery, one of Germany’s most successful breweries, and its most popular beer is ‘Zäpfle’. A local guide will take us on a tour through the brewery followed by a tasting.

We take a scenic drive through the Black Forest to the wonderful city of Freiburg, known for its historic old town and magnificent architecture.

The city of miniature streams and cobble-stone streets, Freiburg is home to many famous sites including the spectacular Minster, with its 116 metre tall tower, and the old and new town halls.

Visitors to Freiburg may be fascinated to see the ‘Bächle’, or miniature canals, which were once used to supply water for drinking, fighting fires and industrial uses.

It is said that those who dip their feet into the miniature canals will visit Freiburg again, so why not enjoy a paddle whilst you're there?
