Explore the ‘wine town’ of Rüdesheim, where you can stroll the narrow streets and perhaps partake in a spot of shopping. Why not visit Koblenz and see where the mighty Moselle and Rhine rivers meet, or spend a full day taking in the sites of the Rhine Valley, from the famous Loreley Rock, to the pretty towns of Boppard and St. Goar. End your holiday to Germany with an opportunity to visit the beautiful town of Heidelberg, with its spectacular castle and charming old town.
Local departure by coach or Door-to-Door service, then to Belgium for an overnight stay.
We leave our hotel this morning and continue on to the vibrant city of Cologne which stands on the banks of the Romantic River Rhine. Here you can enjoy some free time to explore the many shops and boutiques. During the Second World War around 90 percent of Cologne’s inner city was reduced to rubble. Today the Rhine metropolis is the fourth largest city and one of the most outstanding travel destinations in Germany and Europe. The Cologne Cathedral, famous around the world, dominates the panorama of the city and is still today the second highest building in Cologne after the telecommunications tower. Maybe take time to visit the famous Gothic Cathedral, with its most celebrated work the Sarcophagus of the Magi, thought to hold the remains of the three wise men. The local cuisine, with its many traditional pubs and restaurants, is highly varied and attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. Whether it’s relaxing on the Rhine promenade or drinking a Kolsch in one of the typical breweries – a visit to Cologne is always worthwhile! After free time we continue our journey through the Rhine Gorge to Assmannshausen, where we stay for the next five nights.

Why not join our optional ‘Exploring Rudesheim’ excursion. We travel by road train to the cellars of Adolf Störzel where there will be the chance to sample some of the local produce. From here we continue to Siegfried’s Mechanical Music Museum, where you can see one of the largest collections of self-playing mechanical musical instruments. Your guide will tell you about the various instruments and you will have the chance to listen to many of the instruments and fairground organs play their different tunes.

The city of Heidelberg enjoys a beautiful location on the banks of the River Neckar. It is often referred to as the ‘Romantic Town’ on account of its castle ruins and red sandstone buildings, which dominate the city.
