Optional Excursions

Our optional excursions are a great addition to enhance your holiday experience and are highly recommended.

This optional excursion is available to pre-book or you can book during your tour.

Our day begins with a scenic drive through the Black Forest region to the university town of Freiburg. Known for its historic old town and fine architecture, popular landmarks in the town include the ornate Freiburg Minster, with its 116-metre-tall tower, and the old and new town halls. Freiburg is also known for the miniature canals which run through its streets. Known as ‘Bächle’ these waterways used to supply water to the town for industrial use, and it is said that those who step into the miniature canals are sure to visit Freiburg again.

We then travel to Triberg, home to Germany’s highest waterfalls, and to the pilgrimage church of ‘Maria in der Tanne’. Renowned for its cuckoo clock tradition, Triberg’s carvers, clockmakers and clock shops help to shape the distinctive character of this charming town.
