Please Note: Entrance fees to the châteaux on day 5 are at additional cost.

Local departure by coach or Door-to-Door service, then to the Paris area to our 4-star hotel for a three-night stay.

We follow in the footsteps of the French kings this morning and travel to the splendid Château and Gardens of Versailles. Located on the western outskirts of Paris and originally created for Louis XIV, admire the magnificent gardens or château from this once opulent era. (Chateau entrance is at extra cost. Chateau entrance is subject to local queueing times). Enjoy a relaxing stroll through the gardens, or along Versailles own Grand Canal, or why not discover the many fountains and pools, some of which are examples of fine sculpture. Please note that you will have time to visit either the gardens, or the Chateau at Versailles. From Versailles we continue to the village of Giverny in Normandy to visit the home of Claude Monet. The artist lived here from 1883 until his death in 1926, and today his house and in particular the gardens, made famous by his painting of the water lilies, have been restored to Monet’s original designs. His gardens, stretching from his house down to the river, provided the inspiration for many of his famous paintings, such as his series of ‘Nympheas’ or Water Lilies and his ‘Pont Japonais’ or Japanese Bridge, which has also been rebuilt for visitors to enjoy. Monet’s garden is widely regarded as being his greatest masterpiece, and was meticulously planned, so that each month would bring a host of new blooms and an explosion of colours. The vibrancy of the colours and careful contrasts means that the gardens continue to delight visitors at any time of the year.
