Visit: Versailles, France

Enjoy a seven-day break combining the splendid house and gardens of Claude Monet, inspiration for so many of his paintings, with a full day in Paris and visits to spectacular chateaux. Visit Versailles with its spectacular gardens, before we travel to Giverny and visit arguably one of the most famous gardens of all time, Monet’s Garden, the garden of famous artist, Claude Monet. It’s then onto the ‘city of love’, the French capital of Paris, where we spend a full day exploring the city’s most famous sites, from the Eiffel Tower to Notre Dame. Heading into the Loire Valley, we see some of the country’s most famous châteaux. We visit the Château de Chambord and the pretty town of Blois, Château de Chenonceau, which spans the River Cher before the holiday comes to an end with a visit to the Château de Fontainbleau.

Please Note: Entrance fees to the châteaux on day 5 are at additional cost.

Local departure by coach or Door-to-Door service, then to the Paris area to our 4-star hotel for a three-night stay.

Today’s included excursion begins at the impressive Château and Gardens of Versailles (admission is extra). Next, we visit the home and gardens of Claude Monet at Giverny. The artist lived here from 1883 until his death in 1926 and the house and gardens, made famous by his ‘Water Lilies’ paintings, have been restored to Monet’s original designs, the gardens being considered by many to be his greatest work.
