Our included excursion takes us to Lake Maggiore and the opulent resort town of Stresa. Here you will have time at leisure to explore the grand architecture and cosmopolitan atmosphere or perhaps relax in a café and enjoy the stunning scenery towards the Borromean Islands. The islands lie at the centre of the lake and are fine examples of natural beauty enhanced by landscaped gardens and parks. This evening we enjoy a gala dinner at the hotel.

Happy New Year! Enjoy a leisurely day relaxing along the lakeside. Perhaps take a stroll along the lakeside seeing the beautiful villas and houses that dot the shoreline.

Today, our pre-booked optional excursion takes you to the world famous resort of St. Moritz. Sporting life has always been an important part of St. Moritz, and over 100 years ago the first British visitors used to stage Toboggan races in the streets. There will be a short amount of time for you to explore before we board the Bernina Region Railway and cross one of the highest railroad lines in the Alps. As we approach the Swiss / Italian border, we travel over the Brusio spiral viaduct, an amazing feat of engineering that allows the train to gradually descend 20 metres in a relatively short distance. We arrive in Tirano, a quaint Italian town, where we spend a short amount of free time before returning to our hotel. Please note: This excursion must be pre-booked before departure and cannot be purchased on tour.
