Dubrovnik, Split & the Dalmatian Coast by Air

Fly to Dubrovnik from a local airport and explore beautifully-preserved medieval towns and stunning coastlines, as we take you on a tour of some of Europe’s best preserved medieval architecture. We start in the coastal city of Spilt, famous for its spectacular sites, such as Diocletian’s palace, built by the Roman Empire, it’s then onto the charming old town of Trogir, before visiting Sibenik, with its narrow streets and charming Renaissance buildings. We then cross the border into Bosnia-Herzegovina, with a visit to historic Mostar and the iconic, Stari Most Bridge. Back to Croatia, we spend a day in Dubrovnik, often described as ‘the most perfectly preserved medieval town in the world’ this UNESCO, heritage site is a marvel to behold. With trips also available to the beautiful islands of Korcula, Brac and Hvar, as well as the chance to visit Motenegro’s coastline and countryside, on a trip to Kotor, all making for a truly magical holiday.

Fly to Dubrovnik, where you will be met and transferred to our hotel in the Split/Makarska area for a three-night stay.

We head to the beautiful coastal city of Split, where we include a guided tour of the city and a visit to Diocletian’s Palace, which lays claim to being one of the Roman Empire’s finest buildings. Explore the charming old town before we continue to Trogir, a true gem of the Dalmatian Coast, which enjoys a lovely setting on a small island connected by a bridge to the mainland. Explore the maze of narrow streets and hidden courtyards lined with charming Renaissance buildings. Continue to Sibenik where we visit the Cathedral and include a guided tour

Join our excursion by boat to Brac and Hvar with a fish picnic and a stop at Sucaraj on Hvar. Enjoy the scenry and relax as we sail the crystal blue waters of the Adriatic.

We leave our hotel and head into Bosnia-Herzegovina to the historic city of Mostar. During Turkish occupation, a bridge (Stari Most) was built across the river and this became a symbol of the city during the Croatia-Bosnia conflict in the early 1990s, when it was totally destroyed. Since then it has been painstakingly rebuilt. Our included, guided sightseeing tour includes entrance to the Turkish House and Muslim Mosque. We continue to Dubrovnik, the ‘Pearl of the Adriatic’ for a four-night stay.

Enjoy a day at leisure in the place that has been called ‘the most perfectly preserved medieval town in the world’. The beautiful old town is a joy to explore. Take a walk along the stone ramparts of the city for the best views, then venture inside to experience its many treasures. Enjoy a stroll along the main street, the Stradun, paved with limestone and lined with cafes and bars. Our guided city tour of Dubrovnik, described as ‘Paradise on Earth’, will show you the main highlights.

Today we offer an optional excursion by coach and boat to the island of Korcula, rich in fascinating, historical influences from the Greeks, Venetians and Turks. Lying on a small peninsula surrounded by city walls and fortresses, Korcula Town is one of the most beautiful medieval cities on the Adriatic Coast. People call it ‘Little Dubrovnik’ because of its squares, churches, palaces and houses. Whilst on Korcula, we enjoy a guided city tour seeing the main sights, and visiting the Cathedral of Saint Marc, Church of All Saints and to end our day, we have a tasting of local wine on the Peljesac peninsula.

Why not discover the natural beauty of Montenegro’s coastline and countryside on our optional excursion to Kotor by coach and boat. Medieval architecture and numerous monuments of cultural heritage have made Kotor a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The entire city is criss-crossed with narrow streets and squares. Byron judged this part of the coast as ‘the most beautiful encounter between land and sea’. Whilst in Kotor, we enjoy an included guided city tour taking in the main sights.

Accommodation

In Makarska/Split you will stay for three nights at a 4-star hotel such Plaza in Omis or Bluesun Hotel in Brela/Tucepi. You will then stay for four nights in Dubrovnik at a minimum 3-star hotel such as the Tirena or Valamar Club on the Babin Kuk Peninsula.
