Itinerary

Depart from your chosen airport for your flight to Berlin. We recommend you check in for your flight 2 hours 30 minutes before the scheduled time of departure. Upon arrival in Berlin you will be transferred to your hotel where you will stay for the next three nights at the 4-star Park Inn Berlin Alexanderplatz.

This morning a local coach and local guide will meet you in the hotel reception and then take you on an included orientation tour of the city by coach and then on foot. Your guide will introduce you to the famous sights of the city and point out the all-important Christmas Markets. Few cities have seen as many changes over recent years as Berlin and today you can enjoy a full day exploring the city and all it has to offer. Having regained its pre-war status as the capital of Germany, Berlin now thrives on its exciting new architecture, youthful vibrancy and rich cultural diversity. The city has a cosmopolitan buzz that makes it one of Europe’s top city destinations. Berlin is a city with something for everyone, from fantastic gastronomic experiences, art, shopping, culture, history and much more.

During the “cold war” period the city was divided between east and west but is once again the flourishing capital of the unified Germany. The remainder of the day is at leisure, and with such a chequered past there is plenty for you to see and explore. Anyone wanting to experience the charm of ‘Winter Magic’ is in the right place in Berlin with a choice of plenty of Christmas markets, dotted all over the city. After the orientation tour you will have the remainder of the day to explore this fantastic city at your own pace before making your own way back to the hotel.

Berlin Sightseeing Tour

A further day at leisure to explore Berlin. The Alexanderplatz Christmas market is one of the most popular places to visit, with over 100 stalls, and here you can find traditional craft and Christmas items, or perhaps sample Bratwurst, gingerbread or a warming gluhwein. Visitors can see the walk-in Christmas pyramid, decorated with over 5000 lights. The ‘Winter World’ Christmas market on Potsdamer Platz is also well worth a visit with many handicrafts and local delicacies on offer, as well as a large open-air ice rink! A visit to the market at the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church is a must with over 100 stalls to explore, plus sweet and seasonal treats, and small fairground rides.

For a more Scandinavian twist visit the Lucia Christmas market at the Kulturbrauerei (Cultural Brewery) situated in the Prenzlauer Berg district of Berlin. The Christmas Market here is named after Lucia, the Nordic goddess of light, and this is a popular market with anyone looking for a romantic atmosphere.

For a more nostalgic Christmas market head between the Staatsoper and Opernapalais where you will find traditional items such as tree decorations, candles and wooden figurines. The Gendarmenmarkt Christmas market takes place on one of the most beautiful squares in the city and here you may find exhibitors such as glassblowers, candle makers and other craftspeople. (Please note that this market has an entrance charge of approximately €1.) (Please note that entrance costs to any markets or places of interest are not included).
