Following on from our very popular Beer and Battlefields coach tour, this new Christmas-themed holiday is a mix of battlefields, breweries and Christmas markets. Join us on this unique journey of Remembrance as we visit battlefield sites from both World Wars, including Messines Ridge in West Flanders, and the WW2 battlefields in Belgium. You’ll also hear the story of the Christmas Truce, and be able to raise a glass to our heroes, in a number of local breweries. Plus, you can indulge in the festivities at the Arras and Bruges festive markets.

Itinerary

Following on from our very popular Beer and Battlefields tour, this Christmas-themed tour has a mix of battlefields, breweries and Christmas markets.
Local departure by coach, then to our hotel in France or Belgium, where we stay for three nights.
We travel down the Messines Ridge looking at the mining operations in 1917 when the largest man-made explosion of the war ripped across the Flanders landscape. We then look at the story of the Christmas Truce in 1914, when both sides came out into No Man’s Land. After lunch at Hooge we travel to Arras to visit a local French brewery before spending time in the large Arras Christmas market held in the main square.

Key Visits
Today we look at the Second World War battlefields in Belgium seeing the superb Liberation Museum at Knocke-Heist with its amazing displays of WW2 material and vehicles. We then look at the fighting in this area in 1944, after lunch we go to the Bruges Zot Brewery for an included brewery tour and then spend time in Bruges for the excellent Christmas market.
