The ancient ruins of Pompeii are amongst the most popular tourist attractions in all of Italy. A Taste of Pompeii in London
But now you can get a taste of Pompeii without leaving the country. The British Museum is bringing a truly unique exhibition to London that details the destruction of Pompeii and Herculaneum. On show are the body casts of six people, including a family of two adults and two children who died huddled together under the steps of their villa. You can also see a loaf of bread that was put into the oven by a Roman slave in AD 79 and not taken out until the 1930s when it was discovered by archaeologists who uncovered the bakery 18 centuries later.
