WW1 saw the birth of the tank, and its first use in battle on the Somme. On this new tour we look at the use of tanks by the British and include a visit to the newly opened Cambrai Tank Museum which includes an original MkIV tank used in 1917.

Itinerary
Please choose your preferred 4 day itinerary
Local departure by coach, then to our hotel in northern France where we stay for three nights.
We then travel to Bullecourt, where tanks were used to support the attacks here in April 1917. The museum here includes many tank parts found on the battlefield.
After lunchtime at Arras, we travel to Flanders to look at the use of tanks here in 1917, seeing the Tank Memorial at Poelcapelle and visiting Hooge Crater Museum which has Tank Corps exhibits.
We end the day in Ypres for the Last Post Ceremony at the Menin Gate where tank crews killed at Passchendaele are commemorated.

Key Visits
We visit the Cambrai Memorial, see the grave of Brigadier General Bradford VC – the Boy General – before looking at the use of tanks between Havrincourt and Flesquières, seeing the tank memorial.
After lunch at Cambrai we visit the Tank Museum at Flesquières and end the day in Bourlon Wood.
