Local departure by coach or Door-to-Door service, then to Belgium for an overnight stay.
After breakfast, we travel on south through the rolling countryside of Germany, to take the superb 4-lane autobahn through the Alpine foothills to the Austrian border. Now surrounded by the true mountains of the Alps, we continue to our hotel where we stay for six nights.
Take a gondola to the top of the Markbachjoch (1500m) and enjoy magnificent views of the majestic Wilder Kaiser Mountains. Our walk takes us over high meadows, summer home to hundreds of cows. We continue past the tiny Horler Stiegl chapel around the Rosskopf peak. The breath-taking panorama has to be enjoyed at leisure and where better to appreciate the views than at one of the quaint huts. From here we meander back to the Markbachjoch Gondola for the return journey back to Niederau. Don’t forget a packed lunch and plenty to drink.
It is still dark when we set off. We walk through the forest towards the rising sun. Our destination is the Kragenjoch Peak and here we greet the new day. Don’t forget a snack and plenty to drink.
Join our optional excursion by coach to Innsbruck combined with a trip onboard the Nordkettenbahnen, or a hike to the Schatzberg. We take the cable car in Auffach to the Schatzberg Mountain for unbelievable views. After enjoying the peace and wonderful panorama, we return via the Gern Alm and the Schatzberg Alm at the gondola station. Don’t forget a packed lunch and plenty to drink.

The Filzmoos Moor on the Niederau Bruggberg is a wide plateau, which offers a fascinating insight into the Alpine plant and animal life. Frogs, dragonflies, butterflies and songbirds can be observed in this untouched biotope. You can also watch the deer in the nearby deer park. The gentle walk takes us north to Stockeben through the fragrant pine forests full of bilberries. After about an hour and a half we reach the moor at 1000m altitude. We return via Auenweg and back to Niederau. Don’t forget a packed lunch/snack and plenty to drink.
We start at an altitude of 938m on the Minz path from Oberau up to one of the loveliest view points in the valley, the Boarstadl hut. A further 30 minutes uphill and we will come to the Achental hut, famous for its views, snack and warm welcome. From here, it is just a short ascent to wonderful Kragenjoch peak. The array of wild flowers growing here in spring and early summer have become a rarity elsewhere. The peaks offer views over the Inn Valley. On the way back, we stop into the hut for a well-earned rest. Our return journey takes us through blueberry fields and mountain moors back to Oberau. Don’t forget a packed lunch and plenty to drink.
