The Isles of Aran, Achill & the Fields of Athenry by Air

Fly to Dublin and experience glorious Western coastlines, character-filled islands and a taste of Irish tradition on this 6-day holiday by air. Our tour begins as we travel across the Midlands region of Ireland, through the ‘Fields of Athenry’ to Galway, where we enjoy an evening of entertainment at the Galway Bay Hotel. We then travel to Connemara and witness the charming coast and countryside. What’s more, we enjoy a boat ride to view the world-famous Cliffs of Moher and visit the Aran Islands, where you have the option to enjoy a light lunch with local music, and a glass of the ‘Black Stuff’ at Watty’s Bar. And that’s not all, we’ll have free time in Westport, and visit the picturesque Achill Island.

Itinerary

Fly to Dublin, and join our coach as we travel across the Midlands region of Ireland to our hotel, in Galway for two nights, via a little singalong through the historic ‘Fields of Athenry’. Tonight, we include an evening of great entertainment and food with the Trad on the Prom ‘Dinner & Dance’ at the Galway Bay Hotel.

A morning ride out to see some of the glorious Connemara coast and countryside. On our way back for a free afternoon in Galway, we call by the tiny village of Cong where John Wayne first charmed Maureen O’Hara. Galway is home to a host of fascinating buildings and architectural delights, including the Cathedral, St. Nicholas’ Church and the quaint streets of the Latin Quarter.

Morning boat ride out to view the world-famous Cliffs of Moher, before continuing on to visit the Aran Islands. There is an option once here to be collected by coach (arranged by Joe Watty’s Bar & Restaurant) and taken up to the venue for a light lunch, half a Guinness and a little local music. We enjoy a short visit to the pilgrimage village of Knock before arriving in Castlebar, for two nights.

Westport is just a short ride away and as well as a little free time, we have included a ride on the road train up to Westport House. In the afternoon, we continue around Clew Bay to visit picturesque Achill Island.

Accommodation

You will stay for two nights at the 3-star Connacht Hotel in Galway. In County Mayo, we stay for two nights at the 4-star Harlequin Hotel in 

Castlebar. Overnight stay in Dublin area will in a city style hotel.
