4-Day Break for 2009

  • Day 1 – Local departure then to Bruges for a 3 night stay.
  • Day 2 – Ghent (optional, included on Silver Service) and Bruges (included). Affectionately known as the ‘flower capital of Belgium’, this medieval Flemish harbour city has a wealth of stunning architecture waiting to be explored. Afterwards, enjoy some free time in Bruges, with its canals, cobbled streets and shops selling the famous Belgian chocolate on almost every corner! B
  • Day 3 – Brussels (included). Experience a thousand years of history in Belgium’s cosmopolitan capital. Our optional guided sightseeing tour takes in the Royal Palace of Laeken and St. Michael’s Cathedral, before arriving at the historic Grand Place – a market square with splendid guild houses and an impressive Gothic town hall. The rest of the day is at leisure, before we return to our hotel in Bruges. B
  • Day 4 – To Ostend then to Calais to return home. Ostend (included). En route to Calais we visit Ostend, the ‘queen’ of Belgium’s seaside resorts. Ostend gained its resort-town popularity from two Belgian kings, Leopold I and II, who faithfully spent their summers here. A stroll along the promenade offers views of the Royal monuments and other historical sights. B

  • Day 4 – Sluis (optional). The fortified town of Sluis is popular for both shopping and dining. Climb Holland’s only bell tower for great views of the picturesque countryside surrounding Zealand Flanders. The ‘De Brak’ Windmill – originally built as a fortress mill and the first made of stone in the area – is a real treat, as is a casual walk along the old city ramparts and gates.B
