New Year Rhine Cruise

Enjoy the New Year in style on this four-night river cruise along the majestic River Rhine. Sailing on board the MV Esmeralda, you’ll board the ship in Dusseldorf before sailing onto mighty Cologne before the big night as we welcome in a New Year with fireworks in Koblenz. We’ll round off the trip with an optional excursion to the Moselle valley where you can sample the local produce with a spot of wine tasting.

To Düsseldorf to join the MV Esmeralda for a four-night cruise.

We cruise early this morning to Cologne, arriving in the early afternoon. Enjoy time at leisure to explore the many popular sights, such as the splendid cathedral or ‘Kolner Dom’, or enjoy the many bustling shopping streets such as Schildergasse or Hohestrasse, or the chic elegance of the Belgian Quarter. Why not sample a tasty local torte and coffee before returning to the ship in time for dinner?

We cruise from Cologne to Koblenz, situated at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle. Enjoy the fireworks in Koblenz, as we welcome in the New Year.

After breakfast join our optional coach excursion along the Moselle Valley and enjoy wine-tasting at the House of Anton Hammes. The Moselle River is the longest tributary river of the Rhine and reveals some stunning scenery as the river gently meanders between the hills of the Hunsrück and Eifel regions. We enjoy a scenic drive to the House of Anton Hammes in the village of Alken where we sample local Moselle wine. As well as the wine-tasting you will have the opportunity to purchase the wine should you wish to do so. We return to our ship at Boppard, the pearl of the Rhine.

Please note at some ports of call, a degree of walking will be involved to join our coach. Due to limited docking facilities, it may be necessary to dock alongside another ship to gain access to the shore.
