We start our morning with an included visit to Halle and the Halloren Chocolate Museum, Germany’s oldest chocolate factory. The most famous product is the ‘Halloren-Kugeln’, or Halloren globes, which receive their name from the early salt workers, whose buttons the chocolates resemble. Here we have a tour of the factory before we continue into the centre of Halle. Founded over 1200 years ago and the birthplace of Handel, it offers excellent shopping, boat trips on the River Saale and relaxing bars around the beautiful historic Market Square.

Later we continue to the historic city of Leipzig for an included visit. With a fascinating history, dating back almost 1000 years, Leipzig is a real highlight of Saxony and combines both old and new, best represented in its amazing architecture. Owing to its unique system of passageways, the historic city centre exudes a distinctive flair. Most of the city’s sights are located within walking distance, such as the Old Town Hall, St. Thomas Church and St. Nicholas Church.

Today our included excursion takes us to the German capital of Berlin. Having re-gained its pre-war status as capital of Germany, Berlin now thrives on its exciting new architecture, youthful vibrancy and rich cultural diversity. The city has a cosmopolitan buzz that makes it one of Europe’s top city destinations.

To make the most of your day and to introduce you to the city’s array of spectacular sights why not join our optional guided sightseeing tour? During the “cold war” period the city was divided between east and west but is once again the flourishing capital of the unified Germany. Our guide will explain about the changes that have taken place since the unification of the city as well as pointing out and explaining the interesting stories behind many of the buildings. We see the sights of former West Berlin including the famous street of the Kurfurstendamm with its cafes, theatres, cinemas and art galleries and amongst others the newly refurbished Reichstag building, the home of the German Parliament. We pass by the Brandenburg Gate and continue into former East Berlin where we see the Cathedral, Humboldt University and the famous Unter den Linden Street.
