Itinerary

Local departure by coach or Door-to-Door service, then to Belgium for an overnight stay.

We continue to Italy for a five-night stay, at either the Lady Maria Hotel in Fondo or the Hotel Panorama in neighbouring Malosco.

Includes Breakfast

After breakfast, we have an included excursion to the second largest city in the Veneto region, Verona. This beautiful Roman city is situated alongside the River Adige and is the setting for William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Verona was a Roman city, and many Roman ruins have been preserved, notably the Arena. Most of the historical sights to see today date from the past 800 years. If you are keen on art history, Verona offers a golden opportunity to see the transition of western European art from late medieval to early renaissance styles, with its rich offering of 12-Century churches and art museums. Verona's military importance has also left city fortifications and an excellent castle.

To introduce you to the city’s array of spectacular sights, why not join our optional guided walking tour. The many historic buildings, the mighty Roman Arena famous for its summer opera performances (entrance not included) and Juliet’s balcony make it a lovely place to explore on foot, and our local guides informative commentary will reveal the history of this magnificent city. You will also have time to browse amongst the shops or take a coffee break in one of the many cafés in Piazza Bra overlooking the Arena.

Stroll along the banks of the River Passirio, or on the Corso Libertà and the Via dei Portici and get into the festive spirit, perhaps picking up some last minute gifts at the Christmas Market.

This evening, after dinner, why not join a torchlit walk to the local church before returning to the hotel for mulled wine and biscuits.

Merano

Merry Christmas! Wrap up warm and enjoy the crisp mountain air on a gentle morning stroll, passing through the village of Fondo, to walk in the peaceful wooded gorge which leads to the stunning Emerald Lake. Although there are some steps towards the end, as you climb to view the lake, this is a relatively easy walk which, taken at a leisurely pace, lasts approximately 45 minutes. Return in time for a four-course turkey lunch!

In the evening enjoy a buffet dinner at your hotel.

As the ground may be wet or snowy at this time of year, we recommend sturdy footwear for this walk.
