What our previous travellers have to say about this tour

"We have always wanted to go to Austria and as this holiday coincided with our wedding anniversary we thought why not?We had a stopover hotel for one night (each way) as it was a long journey, which was very clean and the staff were friendly.

Our holiday started on a good note, as on our very comfy coach seats there was an envelope with a lovely anniversary card from Ralph and Stuart our coach drivers. During the weeks holiday we were to find out they were very friendly, informative, helpful and extremely good fun.

We arrived at our hotel in the Austrian Tyrol in the early evening for the start of our holiday it was very pretty chalet style hotel, spotlessly clean and with very cosy atmosphere. Our room was very spacious and tastefully decorated. And with views of the mountain’s indescribable beauty.

After a 3-course dinner which was very tasty, we went back to our room and found a bottle of wine from the hotel family and staff wishing us a happy anniversary, how nice was that?

The next day we went to Salzburg, a very pretty town with lots of gothic churches and cobbled streets, cute little cafes and lots to see and visit. We joined the guided walk I would highly recommend.

In the afternoon we went to the salt mine hence the name of Salzburg, it was one of the highlights of the holiday and a very informative guide took us around. We travelled on a “boat” across a beautiful lake, it was fairly dark but then soft lights came on with gentle Mozart playing in the back ground. After the boat trip we had to slide down wooden slides, it was great fun and we all wanted to go back and do it again.

The next day we went on the Ziller Valley railway to a pretty Ski resort of Mayrhofen, yet again lots of unique shops and cafes and after a very pleasant lunch in an Austrian inn we went to Rattenburg for a glass blowing demonstration that was very interesting.

On our last day in Austria we went to Zell-am-See and went on a pre-booked horse and carriage ride through the old town and countryside, it is so pretty, please try it.

We then went on to a ski resort, Kitzbuhel, with more breath-taking views and watching the people in the distance learning to ski was priceless.

As with all lovely holidays, time goes too fast. We have made lots of new friends on this holiday and enjoyed the experience so much we have booked another one in May.
A couple of tips have lots of memory on your camera I took over 800 pictures. And also have lots of cents for the comfort stops.

"The journey was a wonderful experience in itself, we travelled on the Silver Service coach, which was so relaxing and comfortable both of our drivers were friendly and very knowledgeable about the places we visited. They made sure that we were looked after throughout our journey serving us drinks on board and keeping us informed of our journey and what was to happen next throughout the trip.

When we arrived near the hotel. We had to go up a very big mountain, which was even scarier than going on a fair ride but at the same time the scenery was absolutely breath taking and the drivers made us feel very safe. When we arrived at the hotel and we were shown to our room, it was amazing, so big!

We stood on the balcony on a February evening looking at snow covered mountains and a beautiful church which was lit up every night with candles. It didn’t even feel that cold. The hotel looked like a chocolate box, the food was lovely and the staff were so friendly, we were even thanked on the bus by the hotel’s manager before we left the hotel. We were made to feel part of the family, I would not hesitate to return back to this hotel.

Whilst we were on the holiday we went on the Ziller Valley Railway from Jerbach to the beautiful winter resort village of Mayhofen. A beautiful quaint place where people were sitting outside of cafes having a drink, with a blanket round them, just watching the world go past. Then we had a lovely lunch which was included in this trip at a typical Austrian inn. After lunch we headed off to Rattenburg for a demonstration of glass blowing and glass carving.Other places we visited were the beautiful city of Salzburg, where we chose to have a guided tour and then had free time to ourselves. Salzburg is a city which I believe everyone should see at least once in their life. I personally loved it, as it wasn’t too busy like other cities that I have visited and was lovely to look round. We also visited beautiful places like Zell Am See and the stunning Kitzbuhel where the highlight of my holiday was having a ride on a horse and carriage. The ride was optional but I would advise everyone to do this, as again it was a fantastic experience and I felt like a film star! It made my spine tingle as we went along on a beautiful sunny day and yet there was snow on the ground and in the mountains.

We met some lovely people on this trip, who we had lots of laughs with. Hopefully we will meet up these people again very soon on another Leger holiday!

I would recommend this holiday to anyone who likes wonderful spectacular scenery, a friendly clean hotel with good food and wonderful drivers who truly love their job!

My husband and I would like to say a very big thank you to our drivers Stuart and Ralph and all of the staff at the Ascherwirt hotel for making this holiday so special and one that we will never forget.

The only negative was that the time went too quickly.

"I had always wanted to visit Austria. I saw the Scenic Austria Winter Wonderland holiday and it was just what I was looking for.

As I was travelling alone I paid a single supplement, which I thought was very reasonable and happy to pay.. I cannot say how impressed I was and how commendable and honest they were. Austria was all I was expecting and more, it is so beautiful and peaceful and the people polite and helpful.
I stayed at the Ascherwirt Hotel in Brandenberg. I had a lovely room with a balcony and stunning views. The food was good and the portions generous.
My tour was to Salzburg, Zell am See, Kitzbuhel with optional excursion on the Ziller Valley Railway from Jebbach to Mayrhofen, Rattenberg and a glass-blowing demonstration, a horse and carriage ride, a walking tour of Salzburg and a visit down the Salt Mines.
I booked onto all the excursions and I am so pleased I did. From train rides, stunning countryside, pretty towns and ski resorts, an amazing horse and carriage ride and to lots of laughs with fellow travellers down the Salt Mine.
Everywhere I visited was amazing, Saltzburg has many quaint cafes, enchanting squares, medieval lanes and Gothic churches. One of the many magical moments was the horse and carriage ride, it was so beautiful and peaceful and was finished off with coffee and a walk around the most beautiful town of Kitzbuhel with an elderly couple on my trip. Kitzbuhel is an area of outstanding natural beauty of rolling hills and mountain ranges. Every trip included or optional excursion was everything I expected and more and I would recommend these to anyone.
This was my first holiday with Leger and I would certainly go with them again. I very quickly made friends with a group of 5 people who made me very welcome into their party.
My coach drivers were Stuart and Ralph and they were outstanding, they would point out places of interest on route, they organised where to stay for meals in what were excellent restaurants. I travelled by Silver Service Coach and the coach was just fantastic. It was spotlessly clean, comfortable and everything ran like clockwork. At the back of the coach was a table with four seats for people to sit at if they wanted a change and to stretch their legs and have a chat with fellow travellers. There was books, magazines and games to play if one so wished. Also hot and cold drinks were available on the coach. Every passenger was given headphones and could listen to music on the radio or hear the TV clearly.
I would recommend Scenic Austria Winter Wonderland for its stunning scenery and well-paced tour, the holiday was certainly everything I hoped for and more. Also I must say the organisation from being picked up to being dropped off in Lincoln was outstanding and I would not hesitate to recommend or holiday again with Leger.
