8-Day Break

• Dec 22 – Fly to Munich or Salzburg, where you’ll be met and transferred to your hotel in Austria for a seven-night stay. D
• Dec 23 – Enjoy a day at leisure in your new surroundings. B,D
• Christmas Eve – Salzburg & Salzkammergut (optional). An excursion to the ‘Sound of Music’ city and birthplace of Mozart. There’s time to explore its medieval spires, lofty fortress and Baroque fountains. Enjoy the sights or just relax in a friendly café as the locals prepare for ‘Holy Night’. Later, we continue on a scenic drive around the beautiful Austrian Lake District – the Salzkammergut. B,D
• Christmas Day – Gisela Railway (optional). After a leisurely breakfast, why not take a train ride on the romantic old Gisela Railway between Kitzbühel and Zell am See? The journey takes us through some superb mountain scenery at the slow pace of a bygone age, before we enjoy a Christmas turkey dinner at our hotel. B,D
• Boxing Day – Herrenchiemsee (optional). A full day across the border to Germany, visiting Chiemsee, Bavaria’s largest lake. We take a boat from the spa resort of Prien and travel across the lake to Herrenchiemsee, where we visit the Royal Castle of King Ludwig II. B,D
• Dec 27 – Innsbruck (included). We enjoy a full day in the capital of the Tyrol, with time to explore its many fine buildings, including the famous Golden Roof and the Maria Theresien Strasse. See the charming festive tree dominating the medieval Old Town, and the Christmas market with stalls decked out with decorations and local wood and glass crafts. B,D
• Dec 28 – A final day at leisure in resort to enjoy the town and perhaps a little ‘aprèsski’ in the local bars. B
• Dec 29 – Transfer to Munich or Salzburg for your flight home. B
