8-Day Break

• Dec 21 – Travel to our overnight hotel in Belgium.
• Dec 22 – Onwards south through Germany to enter Austria and arrive at our hotel in the hills above the Danube Valley. B,D
• Dec 23 – Vienna (included). Travel east to visit Austria’s grand capital, Vienna. There are small Christmas markets all over the city at Advent-time, but the main market is located around the City Hall in the Rathausplatz. B,L,D
• Christmas Eve – Walk in the Stillensteinklamm (included). Relax and enjoy the superb facilities at your hotel. Those who wish can join our guided walk in the Stillensteinklamm Gorge, a protected area of unspoilt beauty. (Don’t forget to bring some stout footwear if you wish to take part). This evening , we enjoy a traditional Austrian ‘Weihnachtsfeier’ (Christmas Eve celebrations), which includes the lighting of the Christmas tree and carolsinging. After our Christmas Eve dinner you can also attend mass in the local baroque church. B,L,D
• Christmas Day – Linz (optional). ‘Happy Christmas’. Enjoy our traditional turkey lunch (Austrian Style). In the afternoon, join our optional tour to the capital of Upper Austria, Linz, delightfully spanning the banks of the Danube. B,L,D
• Boxing Day – Grein and Greinburg Castle (included). We visit the lovely town of Grein on the Danube and, during our visit, have an included entrance to spectacular Greinburg Castle, the oldest inhabited castle in Austria, once owned by Queen Victoria, whose son, Prince Alfred, lived there from 1893 to 1900. In the afternoon, we enjoy a romantic boat trip from Grein to Mauthausen. B,L,D
• Dec 27 – We leave after breakfast and return north to Belgium. B
• Dec 28 – Homeward bound via Calais. B
